Project: Ponderosa Landscape Transformation

This residential landscape renovation reimagines both the front and back yards to create a cohesive outdoor living experience that balances recreation, relaxation, and sustainability.

The backyard was designed as a multifunctional retreat for family and friends, featuring low-maintenance artificial turf, a dedicated fire pit gathering space, a comfortable lounge patio, a private hot tub area, and a multi-sport court that supports year-round outdoor activity. Each space was carefully planned to create distinct zones while maintaining a seamless flow throughout the property.

To complement the outdoor living areas, the landscape incorporates native trees and plantings selected for their adaptability to Colorado's climate. These species provide seasonal interest, habitat value, and reduced irrigation requirements, helping create a beautiful and resilient landscape with lower long-term maintenance needs.

The front yard was redesigned with a water-wise approach, replacing traditional high-water-use landscaping with a thoughtfully curated native planting palette that enhances curb appeal while supporting sustainability goals. The result is a welcoming streetscape that delivers visual interest throughout the year while conserving resources.

This project demonstrates how strategic landscape design can transform an underutilized property into a functional, environmentally conscious outdoor environment tailored to the way homeowners live, gather, and enjoy their space.

Project: Golden View Landscape Project

This transformative landscape project turns a steep, previously unusable yard into a stunning multi-tiered outdoor living space. By carefully modeling the topography, I developed an efficient and visually striking design that maximizes both function and beauty.

Construction is now complete, revealing the full layout and craftsmanship behind the vision. The top tier features a spacious patio with breathtaking views of Golden—perfect for entertaining or relaxing. The middle tier offers a generous lawn area ideal for sports, play, and trampoline fun. The lower tier is a thoughtfully designed garden space with raised beds, ready for growing and gathering.

Custom-integrated steps flow seamlessly through the retaining walls and landscape, creating a unified and accessible path throughout. Lush plantings and strategically placed trees will be installed this fall to add privacy, softness, and year-round interest.

Project: Independence Patio Cover

This recently completed project added a custom patio cover to a new-build home in the Independence Community in Elizabeth, Colorado. The client wanted a covered outdoor space that would feel like an original part of the home’s architecture—perfect for entertaining, relaxing, and taking in the surrounding views.

The design integrates seamlessly with the existing roofline, creating a cohesive look that enhances both the home’s curb appeal and its functionality. The covered area provides year-round comfort and a welcoming transition between indoor and outdoor living.

Now complete, the patio cover is ready to host gatherings, quiet mornings, and evenings spent enjoying the scenery.

Project: Golden View Deck Project

As a complementary element to the newly terraced landscape, this concept design replaces a worn-out deck as a stunning, multifunctional outdoor living space. Oriented east to take full advantage of sweeping views of Golden, the new deck balances privacy with openness, offering a seamless connection between the home and the backyard.

The expansive layout includes dedicated zones for an outdoor kitchen and dining area, a poolside lounge, and a cozy fire pit lounge—making it a true hub for entertaining. Pergolas provide shade, structure, and ambiance, with opportunities for string lights and shade sails to enhance comfort and atmosphere. This modernized deck not only amplifies the home's livability but also creates a strong visual and functional link to the newly landscaped yard below.

Currently in the concept and rendering phase—stay tuned for the full transformation.

Project: Native Landscape Design for Custom Mountain Home

For this custom mountain home in Tabernash, Colorado, I developed a sustainable, native landscape design tailored to the client’s HOA restrictions, which prohibit irrigation. The goal was to create a beautiful, low-maintenance landscape that thrives with little to no supplemental watering once established.

Using the existing site grading, I designed two rain and snowmelt gardens that frame the home’s entry, strategically capturing and directing runoff from gutters to naturally irrigate the plants through seasonal precipitation. This environmentally conscious approach enhances water efficiency while complementing the home’s rugged mountain setting.

The project scope included developing a plant palette focused on native species, selecting appropriate softscape elements, and designing a hardscape layout for the driveway. I created detailed renderings to visualize the landscape design, helping the client fully understand the vision.

The design is complete and scheduled for installation following the home’s construction. This project showcases a harmonious blend of sustainability, aesthetics, and functionality in a challenging mountain environment.

Project: Cherry Backyard

This project is a complete backyard transformation tailored to the client’s needs and lifestyle. The original space included a small deck, a cramped patio, and an outdated trampoline—all of which limited functionality and enjoyment. To address these challenges, we replaced the existing deck with a larger, reconfigured design featuring new stairs and improved access. The ground beneath the deck was excavated to create a cozy hot tub area, enhanced with heaters and a TV for year-round relaxation. The new deck also serves as a waterproof roof, providing shelter and comfort in all seasons. The old patio was upgraded to a welcoming fire pit lounge, complete with gas hookups and overhead string lights for ambiance. The result is a series of inviting outdoor living spaces that the client can enjoy throughout the year.

Project: Ponderosa Hot Tub

This project centered on the addition of a hot tub to the client’s backyard, creating a private and inviting retreat. The design features custom privacy panels, a new patio, thoughtfully selected plantings, and low-maintenance artificial turf. The result is a serene and stylish outdoor space that allows the homeowners to enjoy their hot tub comfortably throughout the year.

Project: Aspen Backyard Entertaining Space

This project turns a steep, unusable back yard into a space for the Owners to enjoy. Complete with a covered patio, fire pit patio, shade patio, grass yard, turf games area and paths. The Owners will be able to do some wonderful entertaining in their multiple space backyard.

Project: Hawthorne Backyard

This project greatly improves the functionality and privacy of a sloped low back yard. The clients were struggling with all of their neighbors looking down into their yard, the slope and the lack of privacy. Retaining walls, privacy panels and a pergola solve these issues. This project is also about to start construction.

Project: Longmont Covered Patio

This project removes an old, poorly constructed patio cover and replaces it with a new gabled patio cover. Finishes include beetle kill pine on the ceiling and stone wrapped columns. This project is about to start construction.

Project: Alder Backyard

This client had a very sloped back yard that was not very usable. We added a large patio with beds for future planting to create privacy. A retaining wall reduced the slope of the yard to make it more usable. And a path leads down the side of the house for easy access into the back yard.

Project: Lamberson Backyard

This is my own back yard. The final grading from the builder had a steep slope in the side yard and back yard. The retaining wall created more usable space. The patio and play area are great for adults and kids to enjoy.
